Prices swing by half across the year. The cheapest weeks are not the ones you would guess.
Red Sea prices move on European school holidays and on heat, and the two do not line up, which creates some genuinely good gaps.
The expensive weeks are Christmas and New Year, February half term, Easter and the whole of August. The cheapest are late May to mid-June and the second half of September — and those are quietly the best value periods of the year, because the weather is hot but the sea is perfect and the sites are empty.
Deep summer, July and August, is also cheap on the coast but for a reason: everything inland becomes hard work. If your holiday is beach, boat and pool it is excellent value; if you came for Luxor, it is a false economy.
January and February are cheap outside half term and are the best months of the year for the historical trips — Cairo and Luxor at 22°C rather than 40°C is a different experience entirely.
